My name is Sorin
Israel Blum. I was born in Bacau, Romania in 1953.
In 1961 I moved, with my
parents, to Israel. I received my
first recognition as a painter, in 1969, when I was suspended from high
school, for several days, because I used to draw on my notebooks during the lessons.
In 1970 and 1972 I participated in group exhibitions in Arad, Israel.
In 1977 I had a solo exhibition in Arad, Israel.
Until 1984 I used to paint in the traditional techniques: pencil, inks,
charcoal, oil, etc. Then I started to develop a special and unique technique
to create pictures. I use wood, actually, small pieces of wood. By cutting,
gluing and exploiting the different natural colors of the wood, and the very
unique texture, I creates the pictures.
In 1990 I presented my art works at the ECGI House in Tel-Aviv, Israel.
In 1991 I participated in a group exibition, at Z.O.A. House, in Tel-Aviv,
Israel. In 2001 I participated in the
Biennale Internazionale Dell'Arte Contemporanea, in Firenze, Italia.
Curator: John T. Spike.
In 2005 solo exhibition at Heichal Hatarbut, Petah Tikvah, Israel. Curator: Doron Polak.
In 2008 solo exhibition at Gallery Sigvardson, Rodby, Denmark.
In March 2009 I participated in a group exhibition, at gallery "Galerina" in Bat Shelomo, Israel. Curator: Ilan Segal.
In October 2009 I presented my works at "Visitor's Center" in Bat Shelomo, Israel.
Many artworks, that were
purchased, are presented in private homes.
A constant display of my artworks
is in my studio, which is open to the public in Bat Shlomo, Israel.
